Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra in Lincoln, Nebraska has announced that the remaining concerts of the 2020-21 season will be offered as streamed events, with some new dates and repertoire, featuring music for string orchestra, wind and brass ensembles, and full orchestra. Led by Music Director Edward Polochick, the first of eight winter and spring concerts will be streamed on February 6 and will spotlight Concertmaster Anton Miller and violist Rita Porfiris in J.S. Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins. Also on the program will be chamber and solo works with the LSO’s brass section and Divertimentoscuro, a work for piano and four string instruments by Tyler G. White, the orchestra’s inaugural composer in residence. Two family concerts, featuring Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf and music by Beethoven, will be among performances through May 16. Other programs will include the second movement from Daniel Bernard Roumain’s “[Rosa] Parks” string quartet; Florence Price’s Andante Moderato for String Orchestra; and Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man. Delta David Gier will guest-conduct a February concert featuring Mozart, Strauss, and Erwin Stein’s 1921 chamber arrangement of Mahler’s Symphony No. 4.
