La Crosse Symphony to livestream concerto competition for local young musicians, Jan. 30

Wisconsin’s La Crosse Symphony will livestream its 22nd annual concerto competition for area high school students on January 30 at 3:30 p.m. The six finalists from Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa high schools—violinists Penelope Corbett and Carrie Wang; bassoonist Preston Atkins; and pianists Orion Kim, Aurora Wang, and Tasha Piyabongkarn—will perform via video livestream at the La Crosse Symphony’s YouTube site. Prizes range from $2,000 to $500, and the webcast will be archived and remain accessible to watch after the competition has concluded. The Richard Record Rising Stars Concerto Competition is a Mayo Education Program of the La Crosse Symphony.
