“Germany-based Schott Music Group, which includes a vast range of publishers from Universal Edition to Bärenreiter and Gershwin Music, has moved its U.S. rental and licensing business—the European American Music Distributors Company—to function out of Boosey & Hawkes’ New York offices (albeit remotely for now),” writes Susan Elliott in Thursday’s (1/28) Musical America (subscription required). “EAMDC staff making the move are Norman Ryan, VP for composers & repertoire; Caroline Kane, VP for licensing & administration; Lauren Ishida, director of promotion; Director of Rental Services Doriana Molla, and Rental Coordinator Tamika Gorski. Each will now report to B&H Senior VP Steven Lankenau, who oversees B&H for the Americas. B&H is owned by the Concord company. The deal does not impact publishing operations (composer management and signing, editorial) for Boosey or Schott’s catalogs, so much as it does marketing, licensing, and administration. This marks another classical music partnership for Boosey & Hawkes.… In November 2020, B&H took over international music rental and stage licensing for Oxford University Press, and in 2019 Concord acquired the Sikorski Music Publishing Group, whose catalog includes works by Shostakovich, Prokofieff, Schnittke, Sofia Gubaidulina, and Lera Auerbach.”
