The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra will offer a free streamed concert in partnership with Luna Lab on February 11 at 4 p.m. PT at LACO’s website, YouTube channel, and Facebook page. Luna Lab is the organization founded at New York City’s Kaufman Center by composers Missy Mazzoli and Ellen Reid; the initiative provides aspiring female-identifying, non-binary, and gender non-confining composers ages 12 to 18 with mentorship, performance opportunities, and recordings of their works. LACO Artistic Advisor Derrick Spiva Jr. will conduct the “Luna Lab Meets LACO” program, which will feature the world premieres of eight chamber works by Luna Lab composers: Ebunoluwa Oguntola’s The Dimensions, Kimani Bridges’ The Flower, Madeline Clara Cheng’s Ceiling Stars, Oliva Bennett’s Mass, Sage Shurman’s Enchanted, Anya Lagman’s Unravel, Chloe Elise Villamayor’s Fragments of [anything] to breathe to, and Emily Webster-Zuber’s The Sun Shines Fair. Events in the series are free, and are streamed live and on demand. For more information, visit https://www.laco.org.
