“Classical music enthusiasts will have to wait a little over a year before they can once again be mesmerized by the world’s top pianists at a Van Cliburn competition,” writes Sophia Vanderwark in Tuesday’s (2/9) Fort Worth Magazine. “Nonetheless, The Cliburn is making preparations for 2022, with dates now set for the amateur version of its signature event. The Cliburn International Amateur Piano Competition will be held from Oct. 12–18, 2022, following the previously announced dates of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, which will take place June 2–18, 2022. Competitors who were unable to compete in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic will be able to participate in the 2022 amateur event. These competitors represent 18 countries and range in age from 35 to 69…. The preliminary and semifinal rounds will take place at PepsiCo Recital Hall at TCU, and the final round will take place at Bass Performance Hall. The semifinal and final rounds will also be live-streamed at cliburn.org. Additionally, 24 pianists have been selected to play as non-competing participants…. The Cliburn International Junior Piano Competition and Festival, open to pianists ages 13 – 17, will be held in June 2023.”
