The Peoria Symphony Orchestra in Illinois will host a free virtual leadership luncheon on Monday, March 8, entitled “Overcoming Adversity.” The event, at 12 p.m. CT, will feature bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green and writer Daniel Bergner, in a discussion of Bergner’s 2016 book about Green, Sing for Your Life: A Story of Race, Music, and Family, with Music Director George Stelluto as moderator. The lunch hour will include a post-discussion Q&A session. The event is part of Green’s weeklong artist residency with the PSO, during which Green will record an episode of the PSO’s Sound Bites series of music performances taped live in the WTVP Public TV Studio, and Green and Bergner will meet with students from area high schools as well as students from Bradley University and Knox College.
