The Grand Rapids Symphony in Michigan has appointed CARLOS VICENTE as vice president of marketing and communications. Vicente goes to Grand Rapids from the Sarasota Opera, where he has been the director of marketing since 2014, overseeing marketing and communications. Prior to that, ​Vicente ​held a variety of positions in Houston Symphony’s marketing department for eight years. Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Vicente holds a bachelor of music in vocal performance from Texas Christian University and a master of music in vocal performance from Rice University. In South America, he ​gave a “Selling Verdi” presentation at the 2019 Ópera Latinoamérica Conference in Quito, Ecuador​, and was the co-producer of the first Creative Economy Forum in Manaus, Brazil. He was the co-chair of the Opera America Marketing Forum for five consecutive years, and a Strategic Committee member for Opera America. Currently residing in Sarasota, Florida, Vicente and his husband, Edgar, plan to relocate to Grand Rapids, where he begins with the Grand Rapids Symphony on March 15, 2021.
