“After a limited season due to COVID-19, the Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra has announced its 2021-22 concert season lineup at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center,” writes Andrew Mertins in Monday’s (4/12) WLUK-TV (Green Bay, WI). “The Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra says this season is a celebration of social and cultural diversity as 60% of the music that will be performed is from historically underrepresented composers. ‘I am proud and grateful of the Fox Valley Symphony’s accomplishments throughout the pandemic, and I want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who supported us through financial, social, or emotional contributions,’ said Kevin Sütterlin, Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra Music Director in a press release.” The orchestra’s four-concert season will launch in November with the world premiere of Theresa Martin’s City of Ambition, Florence Price’s Symphony No. 3, and Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with soloist Victor Santiago Asuncion. In January, the orchestra will perform the commissioned world premiere of Scott L. Hines’s Star Fire. Other composers represented during the season include Dmitri Shostakovich, Arild Plau, Mary D. Watkins, Louise Farrenc, Jessie Montgomery, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Christopher Ducasse, Edward Elgar, Stella Sung, and Igor Stravinsky.
