On April 28, the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra will present “A Symphony Celebration!,” an outdoor pops concert at the recently opened Lowcountry Celebration Park at Coligny in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Music Director John Morris Russell will lead HHSO musicians in the 4 p.m. concert, which will feature music by George Gershwin, Dizzy Gillespie, Scott Joplin, and Astor Piazzolla; performers will include Kimberly Hawkey, pianist Assaf Gleizner, and saxophonist Daniel Dickinson. The intermissionless concert will take place rain or shine. Audience members will be seated on the lawn individually and in couples in “pods,” and will be required to wear masks when not within their pods. Hand-sanitizing stations will be placed around the concert site. Ticket prices include a half-bottle of wine for individuals and a full bottle for couples. The Lowcountry Celebration Park opened in December 2020. “We are thrilled to be able to finally present a live in-person concert, after more than a year of isolation,” said HHSO President and CEO Alan Jordan. “We know people are eager to gather and enjoy live music again, and we will make that possible in a safe and responsible way.”
