Composer and trumpeter Terence Blanchard, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s Erb Jazz Chair, will perform with his E-Collective band in a live-streamed April 30 concert from the DSO’s Orchestra Hall. The program will feature music by Wayne Shorter and new original music, together with band members Charles Altura (guitar) Fabian Almazan (piano and synthesizers), Oscar Seaton (drums), and David “DJ” Ginyard (bass). Also performing on the concert will be the Turtle Island Quartet (violinists David Balakrishnan and Gabriel Terracciano, violist Jeremy Kittle, and cellist Malcolm Parson). The concert, announced as Blanchard’s first live public performance in more than a year, will be available for on-demand viewing for two weeks after the livestreamed event.
