In Kentucky, the Owensboro Symphony Youth and String Orchestras will perform a combined spring concert on May 10 at Blessed Mother Parrish Hall in Owensboro, and musicians in the Owensboro Symphony’s Strings Attached program for students at Maximillian Montessori Academy will perform private concerts for fellow students, faculty, and staff on May 14 and for parents on May 16. The Youth Orchestra is under the direction of Tom Stites and the String Orchestra is directed by Wade Wiggins. Owensboro Symphony CEO Gwyn Payne said all three youth orchestra programs have “continued to thrive during the COVID-19 pandemic. It took some preparation, but we were able to divide the groups into smaller ensembles for rehearsals so that we could keep social distancing in place.”
