The New Haven Symphony Orchestra is inviting students from around the country to share personal stories of their heroes for a new “My Music Movie” initiative in which stories will be transformed into cartoons with instrumental soundtracks. Students in grades kindergarten through ninth grade may submit original stories now through July 31 for the project; a panel of judges will choose 20 winners from different age categories, and the NHSO will work with the students to turn their story into a three-minute cartoon with a solo instrumental soundtrack. Using an audio or video format, students can submit the story verbally, in ASL, or using a text-to-speech interpreter, and non-English submissions will be accepted. The finished films will debut on Veteran’s Day, with details to be announced later this summer. For more information and contest rules, click here.
