On June 13, 14, and 15 Oregon’s Eugene Symphony performed free, outdoor, family-friendly concerts led by Conducting Fellow Daniel Cho. An ensemble of brass and percussion performed concerts at Fifth Street Market Alley, Petersen Barn Community Center, and Alton Baker Park in music by Richard Strauss, Samuel Barber, Libby Larsen, and more. Repertoire included Richard Strauss’s “Vienna Philharmonic Fanfare”; Joan Tower’s Fanfare #1 for the Uncommon Woman; music from Prokofiev’s Lieutenant Kijé Suite and The Love for Three Oranges; Barber’s Mutations from Bach; Libby Larsen’s Fanfare for Humanity; Britten’s Russian Funeral; John Berners’s What Birds See; and Chris Hazell’s Another Cat: Kraken. The concerts are part of the Eugene Symphony’s SymphonyGO! series at locations throughout the Eugene community.
