“The Las Vegas Philharmonic has a new executive director as of May 3,” Anne Berquist, writes Nicholas Beard in Thursday’s (6/17) Musical America (subscription required). Berquist comes “from Grand Rapids, MI, where she served for the last year as a consultant and, prior to that, COO to a startup called Aid the Neway International SignArt. At one time she was executive director of Opera Grand Rapids and president & CEO of Ann Arbor School for the Performing Arts. Berquist arrived in the U.S. in 2001 from her native France, where she worked in administration at the Théâtre du Chatelet in Paris and as director of studies at the Conservatoire National de Region de Musique et Dance in Amiens, France. In Nevada, she succeeds Lacey Huszcza, in the job for two years before taking the top administrative job with the Richmond Symphony in 2020. The Las Vegas Phil resumes live concerts under Music Director Donato Cabrera in November. It is a resident company of the Smith Center for the Performing Arts.”
