Minnesota’s Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra will make its debut this week at the Bravo! Vail Music Festival in Colorado with violinist Joshua Bell on June 24, 26, and 27. The SPCO replaces the originally scheduled London-based Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, whose performances were canceled due to travel restrictions. The SPCO will join the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and New York Philharmonic as one of four orchestras in residence during the festival. Repertoire in the three SPCO concerts will include Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 9 in E-flat major, K. 271, with Bravo! Vail Artistic Director Anne-Marie McDermott as soloist; Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 5, with Bell as soloist; Mozart’s Symphony No. 38; Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons; and Astor Piazzolla’s The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires. SPCO violinist Kyu-Young Kim, SPCO violist Hyobi Sim, cellist Zlatomir Fung, pianist Shai Wosner, and Bell will perform Schubert’s Piano Trio in E-flat major, D. 929 and Brahms’s Piano Quintet in F minor, Op. 34.
