EMER OLIVAREZ has joined the Southwest Florida Symphony, based in Fort Myers, as grants and communications manager. Emer will undertake grant writing and research opportunities and manage the ​orchestra’s social media and other communications. Olivarez​, a native of Southwest Florida, has played ​and taught the violin in the area for 20 years. She ​currently teaches violin at Educator’s Music in Cape Coral. Olivarez attended New York University, originally pursuing a degree in music education. She won several scholarships, including the Strings Magazine Edith Eisler Scholarship. Olivarez holds a bachelor of science degree in media, culture, and communications, with a minor in Spanish.
