EMER OLIVAREZ has joined the Southwest Florida Symphony, based in Fort Myers, as grants and communications manager. Emer will undertake grant writing and research opportunities and manage the orchestra’s social media and other communications. Olivarez, a native of Southwest Florida, has played and taught the violin in the area for 20 years. She currently teaches violin at Educator’s Music in Cape Coral. Olivarez attended New York University, originally pursuing a degree in music education. She won several scholarships, including the Strings Magazine Edith Eisler Scholarship. Olivarez holds a bachelor of science degree in media, culture, and communications, with a minor in Spanish.
