On July 8, the Miami Beach Music Festival Orchestra will present a free concert at an interfaith gathering entitled “Console the Soul: Prayers for Surfside” at the Temple Emanu-El Cultural Arts Center in Miami Beach, Florida. Michael Rossi will conduct the 8 p.m. concert, to include Mendelssohn’s “Hear ye, Israel,” Verdi’s “Va, pensiero,” and the Adagietto from Mahler’s Symphony No. 5. The event is being held in support of victims and families of the Surfside condominium collapse and will also include inspirational texts from community leaders, among them Alina Hudak (City Manager), Rabbi Marc Philippe (Temple Emanu-El), Reverend Juan J. Sosa (St. Joseph Church Miami Beach), Rabbi Fred Klein (Greater Miami Jewish Federation), and Reverend Timothy P. Carr (All Souls’ Episcopal Church). Donations will be collected to provide relief to the victims and families of the Surfside tragedy through the Greater Miami Jewish Federation.
