“In October, the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra will return to the Southern Theatre for the first time since the start of the pandemic,” writes Peter Tonguette in Monday’s (8/2) Columbus Dispatch (OH). “Music Director David Danzmayr isn’t sure what kind of audience will be joining the musicians…. [But] ‘I will be as proud and as happy to perform in front of half an audience … [as] if the house was full,’ Danzmayr said.… Like all of the subscription concerts this season, the opening program on Oct. 10, featuring guest violinist Eunice Kim and guest bassist Xavier Foley, will take place in the Southern. Last season, the orchestra performed limited-capacity concerts in a variety of venues…. Also returning is the full roster of orchestra musicians…. Pianist and composer Stewart Goodyear … and cellist and composer Joshua Roman … will each be featured playing their own ProMusica-commissioned world premieres. Violinist Vadim Gluzman, also the Creative Partner of ProMusica, will be heard … as well…. Threads running through the season include the commencement of a multi-season project [featuring] the symphonies of Felix Mendelssohn; and an emphasis on works by female composers…. A three-concert chamber music series [and a] series featuring musicians performing in nontraditional venues, will also resume.”
