The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra in Minnesota will perform an all-American program on its Nov. 26-28 concerts at Ordway Concert Hall, featuring music by Samuel Barber, Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson, Valerie Coleman, and Aaron Copland. SPCO Principal Oboe Cassie Pilgrim will perform in Barber’s final opus, his Canzonetta for Oboe and String Orchestra, which was intended to be the second movement of a concerto that was unfortunately never finished. Also on the program are Perkinson’s Blue/s Forms for Solo Violin, Coleman’s Red Clay & Mississippi Delta, and Copland’s Appalachian Spring Suite. To begin the 2021-22 season, SPCO concerts are being performed at the Ordway Concert Hall, which has an upgraded HVAC system, newly installed MERV 13 air filters, and a professional usher staff to implement safety measures. Performances are also livestreamed for those unable to attend concerts in person. The orchestra plans to return to its Neighborhood Series venues January through June.
