“More details on the grand opening of Steinmetz Hall were released late Friday,” writes Matthew J. The first show in the new hall will be ‘Rise and Shine,’ a previously announced showcase of Central Florida talent. It will debut Jan. 14…. Cole NeSmith, founder of Creative City Project, is set to direct, with Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra music director Eric Jacobsen serving as the show’s music director. On Friday, the arts center announced some of the organizations whose artists would be participating. In addition to the Philharmonic, they include the Asian Cultural Association, Bach Festival Society, Central Florida Community Arts, Florida Symphony Youth Orchestras, the Orlando Choral Society, Raymi Dance, SAK Comedy Lab and United Ballet Theatre. Orlando Poet Laureate Shawn Welcome will be featured, as will the Gospel Liturgical Dance team from Inez Patricia School of Dance in Orlando and the rootsy, homegrown music of Matthew Fowler & The Prado Sisters. Latin rock band Rico Monaco and indie folk group the 502s are also scheduled to participate.”
