“The Wheeling Symphony Orchestra has announced its Capitol Concert Series opening night concert ‘Baroque & Beyond’ scheduled for Jan. 21, has been postponed—along with all other January events,” reads an unsigned article in Wednesday’s (1/5) WTOV-TV (Steubenville, OH/Wheeling, WV). “The concert was postponed because of concerns regarding the increase in COVID cases in the area. The WSO plans to proceed with February events as scheduled and is working to reschedule the ‘Baroque & Beyond’ concert and the first installment of WSO on the Go Yoga event—originally scheduled for Jan. 8—in June…. ‘We did not think we would be forced to make this type of decision again,’ said Bryan Braunlich, the WSO’s executive director. ‘We are disappointed that our concert and celebration will have to be postponed, but we want to have a celebration that people can safely and comfortably attend. With the steep increase in cases and the timing of this concert, it makes sense for us to pause performances for the month of January.’ … The WSO on the Go Yoga series will begin with the February installment on … Feb. 12 … featuring instructor Dr. Judy Romano and Tom Godfrey, classical guitar.”
