The Johnstown Symphony Orchestra and pianist Michelle Cann will perform Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 on an April 9 concert entitled “Rachmaninoff + Romeo & Juliet” at the Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Music Director James Blachly will conduct the program, which also will feature Prokofiev’s Romeo et Juliet Suite No. 2 and Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Overture-Fantasy. In partnership with Johnstown’s Band of Brothers Shakespeare Company, the concert will feature six actors performing scenes from the Shakespeare play. Blachly will give a free pre-concert talk, and musicians from the JSO will perform for and chat with the public in the lobby prior to the concert. After the concert, Blachly will host a Q&A with Band of Brothers Artistic Director Laura Gordon.
