On May 30, the New York Philharmonic will perform its annual free Memorial Day concert at the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine, this year to be dedicated to the people of Ukraine. Music Director Jaap van Zweden will conduct the concert, which will feature Walker’s Lyric for Strings, Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun and La Mer, and Wagner’s Prelude and Liebestod from Tristan und Isolde. The Philharmonic and the Cathedral are partnering with the International Rescue Committee, a nonprofit, nongovernmental relief organization that aids those affected by humanitarian crises. At the beginning of the concert, an IRC representative will provide information about how to contribute to response efforts in Ukraine and other crisis-affected countries.
