Applications open for NJSO’s summer composition institute

The deadline is March 4 for composers to apply to the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra’s Edward T. Cone Composition Institute, held at Princeton University from July 11 to 16, 2016. Four composers will be chosen to participate in the program, which is designed for university composition students or composers in the early stages of their professional careers. Participating composers will have their work rehearsed and performed by the NJSO, receive feedback from orchestra musicians, and participate in master classes with Institute Director Steven Mackey. The institute will also provide career-development opportunities with industry leaders. David Robertson, music director of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, will serve as guest conductor for the program, which will include a performance at Princeton University’s Richardson Auditorium on July 16.
