Watch Sphinx musicians at World Economic Forum in Davos

Four musicians from the Detroit-based Sphinx Organization, which aims to increase diversity in classical music and the arts, performed at the World Economic Forum last week in Davos, Switzerland. The forum convenes political, business, and other leaders to shape global, regional, and industry agendas; this year’s gathering took place from January 22 to 25. Sphinx musicians Hannah White, Randall Goosby, Sterling Elliott, and Mira Williams made multiple appearances at the convening before bringing the event to a close with a final performance. (Randall Goosby is featured in the current issue of Symphony magazine.) The musicians performed the finale of Dvořák’s “American” Quartet and the Handel-Halvorsen Passacaglia for Violin and Viola. Also in attendance was Sphinx Organization President and Artistic Director Afa S. Dworkin. The musicians were introduced by Robert F. Smith, who is founder, chairman, and CEO of Vista Equity Partners and chairman of Carnegie Hall.
