American Composers Forum to present Racial Equity and Inclusion Forum

On September 7, 2019 in Saint Paul, Minnesota, the American Composers Forum will present the 2019 Racial Equity and Inclusion Forum, a daylong convening of artists, administrators, and advocates to discuss racially inclusive and equitable opportunities for creative musicians. Artists and artistic leaders participating in the panels include Patrick Castillo, Brent Michael Davids, Gabriela Lena Frank, PaviElle French, Jonathan Bailey Holland, Mary Kouyoumdjian, Anne LeBaron, Garrett McQueen, Nicole Mitchell, Reinaldo Moya, Nirmala Rajasekar, Dameun Strange, and members of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians. The forum will be free and open to the public, with a livestream available. The forum is intended for artists, artistic administrators, music/artistic directors, executive directors, and producers seeking to build diversity and greater representation of non-white artists; artists seeking a forum for learning and connection about racial equity and inclusion; and community members. The convening will focus on inclusive programming and the context of presenting the music of non-white artists; the process of seeking out and engaging non-white composers and creative musicians; and refreshing the selection criteria to represent relevance and impact. The forum is supported by The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Visit https://composersforum.org/programs/racial-equity-and-inclusion-forum2019/ for complete information.
